Planet Information C - Mercury and Saturn

Planet information and analysis of the solar system are free online. Vedic astrology analyzes the features of the Mercury and Saturn respectively.

Planet information C - Mercury

Mercury is the nearest body to the Sun and is made up of rocks and a small quantity of gases. Mercury is dry, earthy, and atmospheric, and this may be due to its closeness to the Sun, and the existence of water yet to be found. Mercury, on retrogression or backward movement, maintains a considerably longer distance than the usual distance from the Sun, thus, may help the body lose its surface temperature and as a result, possibly may gain unstable water in the form of moisture at its polar region. The existence of water in Mercury is very unstable or might be almost nil because as soon as the planet runs in its direct motion comes in regular distance from the Sun, making it dry again. But the quantity of water, if at all found in Mercury will, of course, be very negligible than that of the Moon of Earth, Pluto, Neptune, Jupiter, and even Mars respectively. Although Pluto is the smallest and the most distant planet, Mercury is the second smallest planet in the solar family. The movement of Mercury is also faster than any other planet, which is approximately 49 Km/Sec, and takes less than 88 days to rotate the Sun on its, elliptical orbit. Mercury is the only body in space, due to its small mass and higher speed of movement, and runs for frequent retrogression or backward movement in comparison to other bodies.

Vedic information about Mercury - Hindu mythology depicts Mercury as the son of the Moon of Earth, i.e., the Moon is considered the mother of Mercury. This may be the reason that during the lunar day of the new moon, i.e., when the Moon came closest to the Sun, a part of it detached out of heat or radiation from the Sun; which gave rise to the birth of Mercury as a new planet. Therefore, it is very natural that Mercury would show the maximum similar properties to the Moon. In reality, also, the surface of Mercury resembles very much like Moon. Another similar property of Mercury is that it is not predominated by the atmosphere like the Moon, which may be due to the receipt of maximum heat and solar radiation from the Sun. Mercury attributes the power of intellect to humans. Information from NASA regarding Mercury is as follows:-

[NASA says - Like our Moon, Mercury has almost no atmosphere .... surface of Mercury resembles very much the Moon of planet Earth, scarred by thousands of impact craters resulting from collisions with meteors .... Mercury, much like the Moon, presents two different faces, one battered (and thus older) and one smoother (and thus younger) (Mariner 10)]

Planet information C - Saturn

Saturn is the sixth nearest body to the Sun with the most massive mass after Jupiter. Saturn consists of rock, ice, and gas with the most prominent ring along with 61 moons in its orbit. Titan is the largest moon of Saturn and the second largest moon in the solar system after Ganymede of Jupiter. Saturn requires thirty years to round the Sun.

Vedic information about Saturn - Saturn is the key planet to cause earthquakes as its nature is to keep the land of Earth motile in defiance of the statical stability of Venus. Moreover, it is considered a devil body that augments grief, sorrow, and depression among humans. Despite all odds, Saturn is considered the king of all planets because, it offers quality, prudence, or foresight in humans.
