Rising Sign Features, Vedic Lagna Characteristics
Rising sign features describe the Vedic ascendant and Lagna characteristics of each rising sign. The ascendant forms when a zodiac sign comes into the Sun's view as it rises. This happens because the Earth rotates from east to west. In ascendant astrology, we consider this specific time the baby's time of birth. In Vedic astrology, the ascendant sign is known as power or authority. The Vedic rising horoscope, also known as the ascendant or Vedic Lagna, is considered the first house in a birth chart and describes the physical body. Meanwhile, the Moon represents the mind or thought, and the Sun represents action. Ascendant signs are also of twelve types, like all other Zodiac signs. Zodiac signs are the same in both Vedic and Western astrology. Like Sun and Moon signs, ascendant signs are also named Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. In Vedic astrology, the ascendant sign is also known as the lagna. The rising sign features, free from Vedic astrology online, are below.
Vedic Ascendant + 23° = Western Ascendant
Ascendant sign analysis: As we know, Earth rotates on its axis in 24 hours. During this motion, some parts of the Earth face the Sun, while others remain dark because of their different positions. This happens because of Earth's shape, which creates day and night in different zones. We are aware of the zodiacal distribution according to celestial latitude and longitude; similarly, if we divide the total geographical area of Earth, i.e., 360°, into twelve (12) equal zones of 30°, we will find that each 30° area of Earth gets an exposure of the Sun round the clock and stays for approximately two (2) hours. Thus, a universal standard time for Sunrise is 05:30 (local time) at any place on Earth. Therefore, Earth takes approximately two (2) hours to move from one zodiac sign to another, causing sunrise there. The ascendant sign shifts from one zodiac sign to another continuously at intervals of two (2) hours.
Why rising sign features are important in a horoscope?
The rising sign changes every two hours, which is unique and faster than any other Zodiac sign. According to astrology, the Sun changes the house of a Zodiac sign after 30 days, whereas the Moon sign changes after 2.25 days, but the ascendant sign shifts from one zodiac sign to another at intervals of two (2) hours. Thus, the ascendant sign is the most powerful (as it represents our body) and the fastest-moving zodiac sign in a horoscope.
What are Vedic rising sign features or ascendants?
Ascendant sign determination in Vedic astrology is a continuous method based on calculations from a person's date, time, and place of birth. The fundamental difference between Vedic astrology and Western astrology is approximately ±23°, and it uses two calculation modes: Nirayana and Sayana. Furthermore, Vedic astrology uses the Nirayana mode of calculation, whereas Western astrology uses the Sayana mode.
How to know Vedic rising sign?
Ascendant sign determination is a systematic astrological calculation. This calculation requires the date, time, and geographical longitude and latitude of the place where you make it. Please note that many software programs are available online to determine the Vedic or Western ascendant. However, after testing several such programs, I found that none could provide accurate output. Therefore, you should learn the calculation or have a professional astrologer calculate it manually.
