Moreover, the calendar is synchronized with the solar year by the addition of extra years at fixed intervals and each year was related to the 12 animal designations, viz. These symbolic animals produces corresponding Chinese horoscope every year.

Vedic astrology

Vedic astrology is based mainly on the Moon sign and is followed by the method of nirayana. Time of Sun rise (approximately 05:30 am) initiates beginning of a new day and date as well. Position or degree of Moon is determined from its rotation of a particular time span with respect to its rotation in 24 hours. Besides, the entire zodiac belt of 360 degree is divided into 12 equal parts of 30 degrees each. Each zodiac part of 12 degree has their respective unique names, viz. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

Western astrology

There is a very little difference between Vedic astrology and western astrology. Unlike Vedic, western horoscope is based on Sun signs and is followed by the process of sayana which differs from Vedic calculation by 23 to 34 degrees. Rests of the factors like zodiacal distribution and planetary positions are the same, like Vedic science. In modern times, western astrology was nurtured by the eminent astrologers like, Alan Leo, Linda Goodman and many others respectively. Read more .........
